National Centre for Econometric Research

Australia has one, but Canada doesn't. What is it?

Answer: The National Centre for Econometric Research, which is based in the School of Economics & Finance at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in Brisbane.

The Chairman of the Executive Board of the Centre is Stan Hurn. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Stan, and one or two of his colleagues, earlier this year at the NZESG meeting in Auckland (see here). The NCER boasts a solid group of researchers, with an interesting research agenda. This research program focuses on such areas as Financial Econometrics, Sportometrics, and the Econometrics of Energy & the Environment.

Check them out!
